Monday Funday!

Hi guys!!! Sorry, I’m a day behind on my posts. (We’re in Brussels, Belgium right now, but this post is about yesterday)

Monday was a very busy day. We were out from 11am until very late at night. Basically, we went to the Louvre, walked around and went shopping, then had a fancy dinner, and then went to the Eiffel Tower very late at night. For the long version, please keep reading.

I started the day with some hot English Breakfast tea at the Airbnb. This is the view from our kitchen while I waited for my water to boil. I love looking out at the buildings and seeing the sky.

Then we took our daily mirror picture with all four of us. We have really enjoyed the fashion here in Paris and getting to dress up each day.

Here we are crossing the Seine River. It was a partly cloudy and drizzly day, but still very beautiful!!

And then we got to the Louvre Museum, which is a very old and very big building. With a glass pyramid. Inside is a very very large museum. We didn’t even get to explore the whole thing because we only had 2 hours. And all our feet and backs hurt after walking around the museum that long haha.

This is the Mona Lisa. A very famous painting by an Italian painter named Leonardo da Vinci. It is very old. There was a very large crowd in front of it. The painting was smaller and less amazing that I thought it would be. There were so many other paintings that I enjoyed looking at more. Like this one below:
It’s a painting of Jesus at his first miracle of turning water into wine. The artist made some changes and interpretations, and added Venetian style & culture into what he imagined the miracle would have looked like. It was also very very huge, it took up an entire wall!!

Then after the museum, we went to get matching wallets at a French designer store named Christian Dior. Mommy doesn’t know very much about brands, but all the ah-yi’s say it is “quintessential femininity”. Or something like that.

And then we went to a fancy restaurant started by a famous chef. We ate for over 4 hours! The waiters worked like a team and it felt like watching a dance. They were so coordinated. It was fascinating to watch. And they gave us special menus with our names on them!

This was my favorite dish. A plate of veggies and fruit. Every bite was different. In the middle is jelly that was salty, and you use it as seasoning for everything else on the plate. It was very fun to eat.

The yellow thing is butter and it was the best butter any of us have ever eaten. It was made on a farm in France that only has 20 cows. It almost had a cheese like flavor. Rachel Ah-Yi was also amazed by its flavor.

For our last course, they served us tea. I had thyme tea, which was really interesting. I had no idea we could drink tea like this, and I actually really enjoyed it! And they also served us candied pineapples and chocolate with Tahitian vanilla.

By the time we left the restaurant it was midnight. We couldn’t believe we were at the restaurant for so long. We were so full so we decided to make a quick trip to the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower. There weren’t many lights on because we were too late, but it was still a very nice view. It was our very last night in Paris, and we didn’t want the evening to end quite yet.

Would you guys like to go to Paris together one day? What are you curious about? What would you like to see and experience?

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and talk to you guys more!! I love you, Jacob and Leona! I love you, daddy!
